Kathleen Barnard
Teacher
Kathleen Barnard joined the staff of WCCS in Septemeber 2009. She has been teaching in universities since 1995 and was delighted to be given the opportunity to teach in a school where her Christian faith is considered to be an asset. She has been teaching education courses and first year academic writing at SFU, and so she is very familiar with many of the challenges  high school graduates face when they go to college or university. Expectations are different, and the transition can be tough. Teaching Secondary School English at West Coast affords her the opportunity to help the students make a smooth transition from high school to post-secondary studies. Yet, even as she shares with them her experiences and expertise, she also learns and grows daily as a result of her interactions with them. "I consider it a great privilege to be teaching at this school."
